The Pure Pitch Method has a unique trait, it doesn’t necessarily teach you how to play the guitar better or enhance your musical abilities but hones in on the method of being able to listen to what your actually playing and thus allowing you to correct it.

So what is Relative Pitch??

Have you ever witnessed a musician or friend just listen to a piece of music, and in 5 minutes to be able to play it back, almost as though they had been practicing for weeks! What most of the onlookers don’t realize is that they were using the skill of relative pitch to hear what notes needed to be played.

So what is Absolute pitch??

This is quite hard to explain, so here’s an analogy. Have you ever heard a song and later you couldn’t get it out of your head? All day that melody kept repeating over and over again, it was almost like you were actually hearing the notes ringing in your ears! The idea of hearing notes and chords in your mind is very much at the heart of absolute pitch. Also sometimes called Perfect pitch.

The Pure Pitch Method software is broken up into two separate modules. Relative Pitch and Absolute Pitch. Each module includes various sections designed to teach you to master the art of pitch recognition.

In the Relative Pitch module you will learn to:

1. Name every interval by ear. Example, Perfect 5th.
2. Name all common chords by ear. Example, Major 7.
3. Name all the modes of a major scale by ear. Example, Dorian Mode.

In the Absolute Pitch module you will learn to:

1. Audiate various notes through specially designed exercises. This will enable you to hear notes in your mind and connect them with note names.
2. Name any note by ear. Example, A3.

Here is a breakdown of how The First Phase of The Pure Pitch Method works:

1. You hear a note played.
2. Using your embedded Primary Anchor Note as a reference you instantly work out where that particular note sits in the chromatic scale.
3. You call out the note by name.

This of course is only the beginning. As you master your Primary Anchor Note you can begin the process again by embedding your Secondary Anchor Note, and so on, until all notes have been embedded.
